Nissan 240sx KA24DE Crate Engines
The USDM Nissan 240sx KA24DE is one of our engines we rebuild here at Synergy Engines. We do not offer core exchanges, and will rebuild your supplied engine core for the build. With different blocks, heads, crankshafts, and cam options, there are many ways to get creative with this popular platform. The KA24DE is a DOHC Cylinder head with Solid Cam Followers, making this build more labor intensive than most. SOHC builds available as well.

How To Order
Thank you for considering a build with us at Synergy Engines! We are located in Plainwell MI USA! Before you call, please read this quick paragraph about how to order a crate engine from us! First please have located a good core for your build. We do not inventory cores for all of our projects, as there are very many variances per engine, and engines are very expensive to stock on the shelves. A good core has good camshafts, cam journals in the head, and no destroyed components. We do not like to build projects off of highly damaged, repaired cores. This is not the right way to build performance / competition / or reliable Japanese engines. Good candidates for cores usually are just high mileage, blown head gasket, low compression, or high oil consumption. They make great candidates for cores, because they have not had a meltdown, which usually puts metal bits all through the engine. Metal bits will scratch cams and cam journals fast, rendering the cylinder head useless/ not repairable. This is one of the major rejects we would usually see in the shop, if we offered core exchanges. Therefore we require customers to supply their own cores for projects. This really has helped streamline turn around time on projects, making our process fast and efficient.

1. KA24DE Cores
We do not stock KA24DE core yet as it really doesn't speed things up all too much. Being a USDM engine, they are common enough to find on the local marketplace. We do plan on stocking this engine soon, as we are building this engine more and more. Right now, we have the customer supply their own core. They then shipped in the long block core; from oil pan to valve cover. We then can start with the process of tear down / inspection which is included with the project.

2. Email SynergyEngines@Gmail.com
Once you have decided to contact us, start out with an email with your information about the project. We need the exact year make and model of the engine, the stage you are interested in, along with your shipping address for the freight quote. We also need your phone number to reach out. Once we have your information we can actually write out a estimate. If you do not send in enough information for us to write an estimate, that we will probably not respond to the email with urgency, as we will be needing this information fulfill a quote.

3. Pallet Your Core
After reviewing and accepting the project estimate, we can move on the getting things rolling. Using common UShip.com freight curriers, we can have your engine picked up at your location. (Customers can supply their own freight currier or drop off the core as well). We will need you to secure your engine on a pallet, and wrap it up for pickup. We have detailed instructions HERE.

4. $1000 Down Payment
Next we need to discuss how to pay for the project. We space out the payments in two simple steps, to make the process have checkpoints. We first require a down payment of $1000 to check in the core, tear it down, clean it, crack detect it, and make sure it is a good candidate for the build. Once we have the green light on the core ( about 2 weeks from receiving the engine) we will be ready to start ordering in custom parts. The parts generally show up in the next 2 weeks, unless they are custom made to order. This generally consists of custom thickness Cosmetic Head Gaskets, Custom Forged Pistons, odd sized bearings, and high end camshafts. We like to use performance parts that are "Shelf Stock" in the industry to speed assembly times up. We need to allow 6 weeks during this period for the manufactures to have the proper time to make your custom parts. At this point in the build, we can reach 8 weeks, and just receiving the last special order parts. This means we have had plenty of time in our machine shop to work the block and the head(s) to be ready in a 12 week turnaround (3 total month goal). Each project will have its own ETA upon scheduling, but this is just a good idea on how we like to process most of the builds. Some are faster like our Subaru EJ crate engine which uses almost all new OEM Parts. Some will take longer, especially if there is any issue waiting on core repair / replacement, or parts that are simply made to order.
5. Remainder Payment
Once the core is checked in good, we now need the payment to order the parts, and have the machine work started. This all takes the majority of budget of the project, and it is all downhill from here. We do not hesitate to get parts on order and in the assembly bench. We are also opening up boxes, measuring parts, and cleaning up parts for assembly. We do the machining of the blocks and heads in our own machine shop, which gives priority service to our crate engine projects. This means no backups waiting on machining. We machine the block as soon as the pistons are in our possession. Cylinder heads are started right after pressure testing, and we have them porting and seat and guide work. Surfacing is done last, and the head is ready for final cleaning and assembly. We try to do all of this before the last of the parts arrive, so are not waiting on machining.
6. Delivery
Once all the engine is assembled and quality tested, we prep the engines for delivery. We contact you a week before to let you know of is upcoming arrival. We package the engine on a wood pallet inside a large framed cardboard crate. This protects the engine from the elements during shipping and does not weigh an extra 300 lbs. adding extra cost the bill. We offer liftgate service through our curriers and can have your crate engine dropped off at a residential location. They will need a signature, and will have a pallet jack usually. You should be present during the drop off to review the crate to make sure there is no damage. Do not accept and sign if the crate is damaged; signing the for the delivery is the approval for delivery and the freight company would not be liable for damages at that point. This has not happened to us thankfully, but we do want our customers educated on the matter as it is very important. You now have your new engine delivered! Included in the crate is the paperwork for the build, along with a checklist of what to review upon arrival, and some common installation suggestions. If there is any issues with the build, always contact us via phone to let us know right away and we will help.
